The night passed very quickly because we flew along the earth rotation and so with every hour that went by the time on our clocks changed by two hours. Most people on the plane were other Germans, mostly Swabians, which means that we almost felt like home. Just some of the students fell asleep this night and if they did they didn’t sleep for long. The entertainment program on the plane was quite good, therefore many students of our group watched some movies. I just woke up from my two hour...

On this warm Thursday we needed to get up early because we met at the airport at 7.30 am so that we would have enough time to say goodbye to our American friends and host families. It was an emotional and sad moment, although we knew that this exchange had still not come to an end because we would see our exchange students again in June. We took the time to take farewell pictures with our host families and our exchange students and to express them our sincere gratitude for letting us be a part...

Our last school day starts, but also our first school trip together. The Americans and the Germans. After over 2 weeks it was the last day, the time passed away and nobody want to leave. What a pity :( We met like each morning in front of the German room in Norman North and drove together with one of these cool yellow school buses to the ... mountains. A few of us wish the whole time we stayed in the US to drive once with one of these yellow buses like in the movies (I'm definitely included in...

The big day has come. It`s Halloween! Although we already dressed up two times before the actual day of Halloween we were all pretty excited. But let´s start from the beginning. Tuesday was another day at Norman North. We could choose any class we wanted to go to, so here is my schedule for the day: first lesson was Spanish, which was absolutely cool because I was beyond excited to hear the American students talk in Spanish and I wanted to compare an American Spanish class to a German one. In...

Today was the beginning of our last week here in beautiful Oklahoma. As usual it was hard getting up early after the weekend, but we pretty much were on time for the meeting of all the Germans at 8:40 am. Miss Hiller and Miss Grüner just reminded us to be at the German room again at 11:00 am and not later so that we would arrive on time at Roosevelt Elementary School in Norman, Oklahoma. From 9:00 to 11:00 the interview group prepared questions for the interviews in groups of four. We are...

This is our second and at the same time also the last weekend in our host families, unfortunately. Now we have been staying there for 11 days. Well, on Saturday morning at 10 am a soccer game with all the exchange students - Americans and Germans - was planned at the Norman North soccer field. In view of the low temperatures not everybody came, but there were still about 15 people. Everyone had lots of fun, although the American students usually don't play any soccer, since this sport is by far...

This Friday was extremely windy and cold day in Norman, compared to the sunny and warm ones we had the days before. The German GAPP students met before 1st hour to talk about different things and the upcoming days. It was the second day of giving our presentations at Norman North High School. As on the first time, we talked about Stuttgart, German culture und traditions, music and many other typical German things. At the end of every presentation, we answered lots of questions of very many...

On Thursday, we all met at school a bit later than usual with the others. When we drove to school, it was freezing cold again. Our exchange students went to their classes as usual, and we were about to go visit the Oklahoma University. It was only ten minutes to drive by car and we were driven by parents. First we visited the National Weather Center, where we had a guided tour given by a senior student. She led us through the different sections, and we were even able to look into the rooms...

After we had breakfast with our host families the German GAPP students met at Frau Rex’s room at 8:45 while the American students went back to their classes. Some host mothers drove us to the Chickasaw Cultural Center. The topic of our school-trip is “comparison of our realities – now and then” and we were now ready to learn more about the past of Oklahoma. When we got there the tour guide lead us through the beautiful park and showed us how the Chickasaw used to live and what their...

On our sixth day at Norman North High School we were giving our presentations that we had been preparing for the last few months. Me and my partner for the presentation, Rebekka, were talking about German music and the reactions were great. The students were really interested in what we had to say and they seemed to enjoy the music we played them. After we finished our first presentation of the day in Ms. Hunters class, we got to hang out with Noodles, the class room snake. While I was busy in...
